Orange Juice and Live Baby Gators

After five hours in the car with two uncomfortable children, who wouldn’t stop to smell the oranges and see “live baby gators”?

The gators were way in the back. Cute mini-reptiles that stared off into the distance, occasionally chirping like bored chickens.

It was a gimmick, but it worked. We bought cokes and snacks, used the restroom and then piled back into the car to finish our pilgrimage to the land of sun and white sand beaches.

But why did the gimmick work? What was so special about “live baby gators” that prompted our detour from the highway and brought us into the roadside store?

We weren’t looking to purchase rubber tomahawks, fireworks and the other items that seem to populate the shelves of tourist trap stores like this. And yet the thought of seeing baby gators, and distracting the kids for just a little bit, was enough for us.

I reflected on this them while thinking about our task here at the FinCEN Report Company. We don’t have rubber tomahawks, but we do have a system for maintaining your privacy — and the integrity of your private data – while also simplifying the task of filing your beneficial ownership information report (BOI Report) with FinCEN – the U.S. Financial Crimes Enforcement Network. How are we going to attract the attention of more than 30 million U.S. businesses that need to prepare to file their first report during 2024?

Most of those 30 million businesses are on a pilgrimage of their own. They are building products, attracting customers and trying to deliver results for their investors. Many will be reluctant to turn off the highway of commerce to take the time that will be required to learn about the Corporate Transparency Act. Some will bemoan the fact that Congress has imposed a new requirement that will absorb their time and attentions.

We can’t offer orange juice and baby gators, but we’ll try to keep it interesting and to make it all worthwhile.
